Aw11 sub box design/photos?

Postby Ae92typeX » Tue Aug 02, 2005 10:01 pm

My aw11 is in many pieces at the moment so I cant really trial any boxes behind the seats (which aint there_.
anyone got any plans for a box design, or photos of your subs in your aw11 you can post up/email me.
Ive got good plans for sw20 one's I swap ya for! :)
Probably looking at either a 10 or 12" at the moment... I dont think the standard 4" one is going to do enough for me...

how tall are you? I'm 6'1, and I normally drive mine with the seat one or two clicks from the back, which leaves about 5 or 6 inches of mounting depth for a sub mounted vertically right down the bottom (behind the seats). I'm going to use a couple of 200WRMS DVC 8" audiobahn subs, as they'll fit reasonably easily behind there, but you could probably get a 10" in. The problem, however is the shape of the firewall, it's not nice and flat like an SW20 so you either have to make a rather complex wooden box, or go for a fibreglass one. I'm planning on doing mine out of fibreglass to make better use of the space, and to reduce the weight (sucks to weigh down a car like an aw11 with big subs). BTW, you should visit www.clubaw.co.nz/forum sometime :)

cheers,
my shoulders are almost as wide as I am high :), Im only 5'8.
Yea, I dont have any problem with making a complex box, but may go the glass route. Also been thinking the last few days I might even just go a small 8" cannon and put it behing the passenger seat.
keeping down weight will be more of an issue for me than you, Im keeping it 4aged!
I visit clubaw all the time...I'll get round to signing up sometime!...at the moment with my uni studies, im a member of to many forums!
cheers

where's the fun in keeping it 4age'd? Am still intent on saving weight where possible, just because I have more power, does mean I wont benefit from less weight :) I'm fairly sure the car should be about the same weight as it was with the 4agze though.

I once heard an aw11 with IIRC an 8" kicker isobaric (square sub), it was very impressive sounding. I reckon if you can get a really high powered 8" and give it heaps of juice it should be plenty in an aw11, provided you're not aiming for any SPL records...

Yea, my mate has a 8" & 12" kicker, they do go pretty hard. I think youre right, I'll probably just go with a nice 8"...since its just behind the seat insted of in the boot it will do me fine.
Yea, keeping 4age'd aint as exciting as the 3sgte...im tempted, but things are so full on at the moment...bla, Im just making excuses :)

bah 4age's are fun anyway, just not all that fast :) My old NA aw was way more fun than the SC, felt much more thrashable.
a 3sge would be cool though, NA fun but more power than a stock 4agze
