sony cdx-m850mp problems

Postby bigt » Tue Sep 06, 2005 9:49 pm

i installed the said unit about two years ago and it worked perfectly untill about two months ago . the seek button works when it wants to, the menu button changes the discs in the shuttle sometimes, the enter button skips a track sometimes and so on. anyone had similar problems with this headunit before? also, i believe car audio has a three year warrenty with sony, am i screwed because i installed it myself?

normally only a 1 year warrenty if installed by non sony authorised dealer.. i would check with who ever you bought the unit off for warrenty conditions..

even so- warrenty or not, you would expect a better run out of a head unit than two and a half years. might have to get ferral with the shop i bought it from if warrenty want cover fixing it

most the sony units I have had were a 12 month warranty.
Really depends how much use you have given it- its not that uncommon that the faceplate starts to wear and malfunctions, ive seen it with many decks that age that have had high usage, or the face plate has been dropped/ got wet. (obvously Ive seen just as many operating fine)
but yea, check with who you got it from about the warranty. At the end of the day, if not covered, i'd consider looking at upgrading insted of repairing as often the repair costs are better spent on a newer unit.
Cant believe im still a member here.
