Just sign up the forum and make a thread of all the gear you want, or browse the retailer specials, eg - hotwire cut deals for nzice members which could save you a bundle..

I got a 350rms amp there for only $160!

there are various retailers on the boards incl hotwire and all are rightly better than PI and provide real advice and real quality..

the buy/sell/trade area is pretty good and other board members will also provide solid advice in purchasing your sounds :)

Whst you do.. is never pay any attention what so ever to the MAX wattage on the subs or amps..

Get the RMS off that subwoofer, and buy an amp with a similar RMS and it will run perfectly.

EG- Pioneer 12" sub has 1000 watts Max, but 400 RMS..
So, a good amp to power this sun would be an amp with 400 RMS, or near to it like 350 RMS, or 450RMS..

Watts mean nothing. You could (would be hard to find, but possible) have a 1000w sub, with a 500w making more noise and clearer sound just cos of the RMS... As said above, try match the RMS rating on the sub and amp, and dont tootoo with your gain unless ya know what your doing :P Cos thats how people screw their sonys really nicely...

Or do what i do and match the RMS values on the amp to the max values of the sub

I had a fusion encounter sub 400max i think, running off an alpine MRV-1005, putting out something like 600RMS. Overpowering is much safer than under powering.

I'm curious as to who led you to believe that a Sony Xplod(e) sub is 'decent' car audio. It's actually very entry level.

That looks like a nice top end one - the cheaper Panasonics are pretty nasty

Basically on the whole you get what you pay for, but Sony is not where its at.

Yeh, when i bought it was THE best unless you wanted to go DVD. Now i think its the 600 dollarish model, which is what i payed for it anyway

*EDIT* Its the one which has lil moving pics of formula one cars, surfing, snowboarding etc that all flash across it, wow.. so trippy.. but such a distraction :P
