If I want to get a flip down TV monitor for my car, do I need to get a new headunit?

My headunit that I have can take audio input, but ive been told that I need a headunit that can take video input aswell. Now I dont see the point of this because the headunit isnt gonna have anything to do with the video is it?

And the only thing Im gonna run off the TV is a PS2, so I figured that I just have to plug the audio from the PS2 into the headunit, and the video from the PS2 into the monitor. Is this ok?

not for a ps2, but for dvd's and tvs you will. Need a power inverter for ps2 aswell i think they r pretty cheap from dicksmith or whatever.

But if you want dvd and tv yeh you will need a new headeck. Clarions from parallel imported

You don't need a new headunit for TV... you can buy a little box from sony that is a PAL TV Tuner, with standard video and audio outputs - which you can hook up to the TV and current headunit respectivly.

is it an import screen (NTSC) or an NZ screen (PAL). slim ps2 or older style?
what sort of headunit?

older ps2's have 12 and 5 volt rails inside the unit, 12 volt of battery and a decent current 5 volt voltage regulator will run the ps2. it has audio and video out... in PAL most likely...

audio left and right go the the audio input to the head deck.. no problems... video goes to the screen... this is where you start getting problems... if its an NTSC screen and the PS2 is PAL then it wont work you'll need to get hold of a pal - ntsc converter. if the screen is PAL (NZ) you'll be fine.
