AE111 Accessing ECU/Stereo

Postby Lazyluka » Mon May 15, 2006 5:34 pm

Ok, i have searched the forums for a while now and i havent really found annything.

I have an 1997 Trueno BZR (Facelift)

Im guessing this is the most appropriate place to stick it.

I want to do the following:

a) Get to my ECU
b) Take out my Cd player (later date when i feel like upgrading)

Now im pretty sure I have located the ECU in the centre console(please corect me if im wrong here), my main problem is i have no idea how to take it out. I would also like to know how to take off the panel which holds the CD player/clock/Air con in(on my car this is a sparkly black) and the side panels(on my car theyre gray) so i can access the wiring behind there easier.

Summary: I want to take off all the plastic covers (where the cd player is) in the centre of my car without breaking annything.

This is what i got so far:
I can see a coupe of large screws in the carpet, but all this does is hold the carpet in (tried taking them out). When i hold back the carpet and have a ahrd look i can see a large metallic box little compartment thingy.

If im wrong about the ECU location, could you please tell me where it actually is and how I can get to it.

(How do i post a picture onto here???)

Thanks

Cool thanks.

I want to play around with the wires :D lol

Nah i got some "Electronics" i want to hook up and they require you to find the "Speedometer" and the "Tacho" signals and stuff and the easiest place to find those all in one place is the wires going into the ECU :)

I already have the pin outs for my ecu and everything.

Ok, pulled the black face thingy off, yeah it was hard. I used my fingers.

With that the question, how do i get to the stero is answered.

Im now 100% that i see the ECU, but to get to the wiring looks like an impossible task, it would be easiest to remove the plastic cover from there.

Annyone how to do that? (Before i go and unscrew every screw in sight) Its the one huge gray piece.
