Where to get Ai-NET to USb (Alpine KCA-620M)?

Postby sergei » Wed Jun 14, 2006 12:07 am

Hi, I'm after Ai-NET to USB adapter for my Alpine head unit, I actually found that one exist -Alpine KCA-620M...
So where I can buy this, as I did not see it in regular stores...

here:
http://www.alpine-europe.com/content/english/a2540.det.KCA-620M_USB-Adapter-for-MP3.htm

My idea is to get portable USB drive (say 200GB) and hook it up to head deck, and all my hassles with CDR would be gone. (and no iPod and other portable mp3 players will not do through line input as they generally have crap DACs, and it would be a hassle to skip tracks and such, also it would introduce noise and ground loops)

Well, I use my car to get to work and back, and where it is parked (behind electric fence and buried in 450 odd unregestered cars of much higher value) it is less likely to get stolen, especially it is in the sight of every one at work.

Right, I cannot buy it in NZ, being somewhat lagging from progress...
SO here is the idea:
I have ability to built hardware and write firmware for interfacing USB with Ai-NET, the only problem is the finding specifications for that.
Does any one knows specification of Ai-NET protocol?
or
Does any one knows where I can get already made USB adapter?
and NO I don't want to change my head unit to crappy clarion or JVC (which have USB support).
