I saw what appeared to be a rep vehicle plastered up with Clarion logs all over it a couple of days ago.... wonder what that was all about.

Then why dont you buy one

Hah, I just bought one tonight, they're pretty good bang for buck. I've had one before, I thought it was pretty damn good, aside from the quality of buttons on the faceplate, but it was 2nd hand and had been punished, but sound quality was pretty decent, apparently they're quite a big Asian brand.

PMPO ratings ftl, god those things are hilarious, great marketing ploy though.
OH BOE WE GOTZ 2000W P(I)MPO IN THIS BOOMING SOUND SYSTEM, sounds good doesnt it.

Our old Aiwa had something like 1800W PMPO, it ran 75W rms nominal I think?

At least most retards dont go around quoting how much pmpo ther stuff has, it only is out of hand to the matter of "max rms"

Pioneer probably..
i would prefer alpine, but if you compare the value for money, alpine are extremely expensive.

looking at the specs of JVC they seem to have a large amount of features for your $.

The 06 range of kenwood units look nice.

Hrm first vote for panasonic then! Yahzir!

I've had a few panasonics so far mainly because for around the 400 dollar mark, when you want a headunit with triple preouts sub out and aux in etc it seems to be the go, nice enough interface.

Mainly use ipod so its a shame that most other brands need an adaptor to run aux or they have the front input single line in, which i do have questions about quality "someone shed light"? BR?

Also my latest unit around the 990?? model is a insurance upgrade and i think the black looks alot nicer far less bling factor, plus also comes with ipodability which i'm looking forward to testing out in comparison to twin aux plugs.

my 2 cents, eep 10 cents now

No real difference between twin RCA and single 3.5mm line plugs, SQ-wise. Not on iPod feed anyway.

If you want all the things you just mentioned, you'd be better off with a Kenwood KDC-MP5033U, as it has a direct USB line on a cable, so not only does it use iPod, it can use ANY mp3 player with a USB line out, and it will operate them like its a CD changer - you can browse everything on the headunit screen and leave the iPod in the glovebox. Plus, if your MP3 player or iPod is chargeable via USB, it will be charged too :) Plus, the CD stage has 24bit Burr Brown DAC's. Only thing lacking is it only has 2 pairs of preouts, but thats all you need - who still runs rears these days?

cheers for that BR, hrm i'm still in need of rears for roadtrip wagon, plus had a play on the panasonic ipod interface and it seems good, I am in love with pods so will never go to any other mp3 player, but the usb feature would be very good for people looking for a multi use setup.

Oh and BR thinking of making new enclosure for sub is it a bad idea for the back of sub to touch or be very close to the inside of a sub box and why? cheers Rowan

Yep,it can effect the airflow from the coil vent and lead to overheating or changes in sonic response. General rule is to try and stay at least 25mm away, preferably 35 or so :)

sweet sounds about right, also when building an enclosure any small tips to help the job eg, any sound deadening, mdf thickness and sealing that will help the job?

Personally I wouldn't touch any headunit other than Eclipse.
Clean, simple design. So damn easy to use and awesome internal hardware.

I tried some of the other high end units out there, but got so turned off by usability, look and lack of sound quality on the whole.

Eclipse also keep away from crazy high power output on the unit, instead opting for external amping as you should do anyway. 5v and 8v pre-out standard on the units worth looking at.

Pure sex imo.

I want disco mode. :( I demand you sell me a headunit with disco mode. Does that mean they have controllers inbuilt for your neons/LED's etc?

We'll see if he buys em :P

I put another one onto you yesterday as well, you will likely have an order for some B6A's....
