speakers in AE111

Postby deaf_rattle » Sun Aug 27, 2006 12:08 am

I have got a couple of pairs of 6.5" coaxials to go into my girlfirends levin while shes in the uk.
i took the stock speakers out of the rear locations and there are no holes for putting aftermarket speakers in.

Im thinking i have a few options

1) make a spacer that bolts into the tray and uses the stock bolts to secure it, then mount the speakers into the spacer

2) use some sort of sealant/glue to mount the speakers (not liking the sound of that, but it is the easiest solution)

3) drill holes from in the boot up, so i can screw the speakers in like they should be mounted (probably the most time consuming idea)

What have other people done?

Also there were some pics floating around of spacers for the front, so 6.5"s could go in the doors, has anyone got some pics i can look at?

cheers

6.5s fit in the doors, but the door panels can be a biotch to get off the first time... I just made up MDF spacers for the fronts, sorry no pics taken.. The original hole is around 7 or 8 " big.. so you def need spacers...

As for the back i have no idea, i have 6x9s on spacers... getting rid of them soon so i'll probably be in the same vote as you soon..
