which sub to buy?

http://www.diysubwoofers.org/prt/dual_chamber.htm

Dual-Chamber ported systems are systems that have the following physical characteristics:
-The system consists of two separate volumes, connected together by a port.
-Each volume is vented to the outside by a port.
-All ports are typically of the same size and length.
-One volume, typically the larger one, contains the driver.

The primary advantage of the dual-chamber system over a simple ported system using the same driver is a further reduction in driver excursion, caused by the addition of a second port resonance within the passband of the system. This reduction in excursion results in increased power handling within the system's passband, making this type of system particularly suitable for use for drivers with low Xmax. However, because of the additional chamber and venting requirements, this system is considerably more difficult to design and build when compared to a simple vented system.

I was hoping you could explain it in your own words instead of googling it but that's ok.

Ummm actually I kind of understood what an ABC box was. I had been told a couple of months back but forgot. I was told it was a huge mofo :P and if tuned properly makes for a very low and loud setup :)

So howabout then, following your advice, you tell us the type of aperiodic bi-chambered box dimensions and port sizes you'd need for your TWO RE 8" subs you recommended.

For an ABC id use 1 RE 8" sub but for a non ABC id use 2 RE 8's :)

Image

The Large chamber is tuned as per normal ported, then you make a chamber exactly 1/2 the size of the first one, and use the same port size as the main chamber to port that one, and then connect the two chambers again with the same port size.

The second chamber tunes to one octave above the first, with the two working in harmony, so it evens out the group delay problems of a single port somewhat, with more even response over an entire range, and takes even more load off the cone so they are quite efficient

Also, An ABC box is a huge box. Say its 120 Litres. You split the partition into 2 and partition A takes up 33% and Partition b takes up 66%

A= 40 L
B= 80 L

The aim is to tune the box to 2 different frequencies hence the 2 partitions. This makes the sub sound louder and gives it more of a BOOM effect :D

It is difficult to make because you have to get the measurements 100% correct and build and join it 100% correctly

Answer ur q's ?

I know the theory of the abc boxes, what I was wanting to know was the sizes etc. and specifics to suit the driver you are talking about.

It takes a while to figure out certain measurements for the driver/sub i reccomened or any for that matter.

Time that i dont have and its pointless.

Stop being a c**t
