How to remove and install

Postby kopkiwi » Wed Sep 27, 2006 4:43 pm

Just recently bought a 1999 carib, 6 speed manual, unfortunatly still has the GPS screen in and in Japanese, would like to remove this and put in a headunit, audio installer told me it wasnt possible as the AC also runs through it and cant by pass it, is he right or wrong, and if he is wrong, how do i remove it?

Need HELP on this one!! :x

Is this GPS from the factory where the screen flips down with the screen facing up... If so I had one in my caldina, and I changed it all over quite eaisly...

It was a double din, and I replaced it with a single din and a single din filler... All the plugs and such were standard for the fittment of a new head unit...

Hope this helps :)

Love to see a picture of the unit. I am a Carib owner too (97) and haven't seen a Carib before with the type of AC system you have mentioned.

Does it actually display anything related to the AC? Or can you make adjustments to the AC through the GPS, touch screen etc?

Worst to worst you could always move the GPS to the lower part of the dash (the double din tray with a cover) and install a headunit in the upper dash piece (above air con vent)
