Single Din in car PC - would there be a market for these?

Phat beats and out-of-luck crooks. Again, read the Disclaimer first.

Right, I have decided to built one. It seems to me there are a few 7" Touchscreens floating on tardme for $360 buy now. Unless anyone here can do them cheaper.
So the PC with micro ATX Mother board some el-cheapo CPU will cost me about $300, I will use inverter to power it (works out cheaper than buying 12v to 12v PSUs) and some custom case. I will chuck it in the boot somewhere. The box will work out about 250mmx300mmx100mm. which is relatively slim. I will think of the way mounting the screen into the double din space (should not be a majour). Also I am thinking of some relay box for power to have ability of soft shutdown on key power off.
My system will be mainly for music (not interested in movies), I might add some GPS capability later on, so I do not need powerfull CPU (infact lowest on the market will do more than enough).
I will have to think how to suspend the HDD so it will not fail prematurely.

A cheep inverter wont give a very clean power supply. The other advantage of a made for car PSU is the auto on/off with the ignition. I have thought about it my self many time. (You can cram quite a bit of ICE in an SW20 if you try). Have a look at the MP3car website if you havnt already.

I've managed to score myself a decent laptop from my work that some moron tried to steal and ended up completely rooting the lcd screen so much that even though he got it out of the lockdown he deceided he didnt like that model anymore and left it.... So screen is buggered but i have figured out how to take it off. So once i save up some dosh for a decent res in-dash screen i will sort out hooking the laptop up in my glovebox and have the audio running through my headunit. So by having a full blown lappy in there i can do all sorts of extra stuff. The lappy is 1.6ghz celeron with 80gb hdd and 512mb ram with a dvd writer so should be interesting once i get it all going...
Driving a honda is like being in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded...

I've almost finished setting up my CarPC in my ae111. Managed to spend a little over 700, $300 for touchscreen + $150 for mini-itx computer + $150 for OPUS carPC PSU + wiring etc.
totally worth it!
