Help With Power Antenna - Unusual...

Postby D-T » Wed Sep 12, 2007 9:14 am

Hey all

in need of some help on this one.

I've had a VDO Dayton Headunit installed previously, and it has worked getting the power antenna up. I've replaced it with a JVC headunit, using the same wiring, and its not putting the power antenna up. I've measured the output on the 'power antenna' cable and its putting out 12V, and i've also measured the power at the antenna end on that same cable, also 12V, so why is this headunit not putting the antenna up? whereas the VDO one did?
anyone have any ideas? i'm kinda stuck! :(

+ no rock in the car on the way to work == mega poos.

thanks

Did it have 12V there under a load? ie when connected to the antenna and turned on?

Failing that you could have used the output to trip a small relay and used that to power the antenna directly from the battery, assuming it had enough grunt to do that
