Alarms and Engine Swaps

Postby Mike228 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 2:02 pm

My ae82 currently doesn't have any type of alarm in it, something I'd like to sort out. I expect though sometime in the next 2 years or do I'll be doing a 20 valve swap. how much of an alarm is connected up to the engine? Will I be looking at a full reinstall?

Cheers

Engine swap won't affect the alarm much/at all. Don't worry about it

none of it is connected to the engine loom itself. didn't have to change anything when i put my blacktop in.

correct me if i'm wrong but this is where most immobilizers will be wired into:(from memory)

fuel - fuel pump relay, inside cabin next to ecu on ae1xx 's
ignition - wired into power supply for ecu IIRC (not the constant power supply though)

My old one disabled fuel and ignition so the car would turnover but never fire.

My new immobilizer is way better. It's a 3SGTE. Nothing stops a car from going anywhere like one of them.
