after some advice here

I've got an old AE92 FXGT I brought a while back for a bit of a hackabout/backup car
did a few repairs to fix it up, and it served its purpose, now time to flick it on as its been sitting around unused

problem is the shitty "Steal Shield" alarm is playing up
the light stays on on the remote whenever the battery is in it; original thought was flat battery in alarm remote; replaced. no change....

the real problem is the car wont un-immobilise/alarm as the remote cant be giving the right signal....
i can get in the car by manually unlocking it, but it wont start as it must be still immobilised

whats the best option to try fix this without spending bugger all (as i just want to get rid of the car)?

Track down the alarm brain and remove it. 90% of the time they're shittily installed so will be easy to get rid of

It will stay immobilised if you just pull the brain out won't it?

You can buy a whole new alarm for $130, might be the only way other than getting someone to try and fix it at $100/hour or whatever a decent auto sparky charges.

im guessing if i just re splice any wires that have been chopped then it should go 'back to being a non-alarmed/immoblised car' right?

Yeah should be the case. If you could find a wiring diagram for the brain that would make things super easy.

when I disabled my one, it had a plug with a bunch of wires (maybe 10?) and then 2 more wires on each side hooked up to relays

I just bridged the 2 wires on each side going to the relays in my alarm and it starts and runs like it was never there

not sure if helpful or not

well this steal shield alarm/immobiliser (or maybe its awesome install job) is so awesome that you just unplug it and the car seems to operate as normal :S

Joys of cheap alarms, they have normally closed relays so loss of power equals immobilisers closed and useless......
