Blade Double Din Mounting Bracket

Postby ptrain » Sun Apr 03, 2016 11:39 pm

Ahoy folks,

I've been having some issues with the Blades audio system. I had the jap unit replaced and a kiwi version put in with maps and everything... At considerable cost! I wont mention the company that did it but it appears they cut corners on mounts for the unit. its disappearing back into my dash. I've had the guy out twice to fix it. He tells me it needs a special bracket that cant be got in NZ at the moment... He's scratched some panels in the dash and I'm not keen on letting him near it again. I'm fairly handy with this stuff myself. The dealer I bought the car off paid for this guy.

I've done some googling myself and found a few things that look like they might work. http://www.qualitycaraudio.co.nz/index. ... ct_id=1066

Has anyone here fitted an off the shelf double din unit in a Blade/Auris/Corrola? Can you recommend a bracket or someone who might know? I hear Hyperdrive in Penrose are excellent?

Thanks!

Could make up some plates and drill them to suit the dash mounts / headunit? Might take a few trial runs, but at least it would be done right.

Yeah I think this is what the 'pro' did. But if i can buy something that will do it 100% for circa $10 thats a much better option.

Most late model Toyota factory double DIN headunits are wider than any aftermarket headunit on the market (except units designed to be an OEM replacement), so you'll need to get those vertical pieces of plastic that you linked to in your first post. This will fill up any gaps on the sides. If you ever change the stereo in future a better option is to go for one that's made to fit the shape of the dash as it gives the perfect fit with a factory appearance. You won't get many results searching for 'Blade' but if you look up Corolla or Auris instead you'll find heaps, and they use the exact same dashboard/console.

Check catalogues at Ed's Autos http://www.edsauto.co.nz/pdfcatalogue.html
They are a supplier of mounting kits and accessories. Most local car audio shops are dealers for them, and you can deal with them direct as well.
