Should I put 6x9s or sub in toyota starlet? or both?

Postby Nikki19 » Thu Jun 23, 2005 3:17 pm

Im not sure if i put 6x9s or a sub in 96 toyota starlet. Can I put the 6x9s in the front doors? Where can I get a good amp? How much? What size sub?

if youre gettin a sub then stay away from 6x9s.
get a sub and some 6.5" components for the front (speakers with seperate little tweeters).

6x9s are designed to create bass, but cant compete with a sub so have either one or the other.

add another set of components and an amp to drive them and an amp for the subs and you'll be soundin neece!

yup for $1,000 i would recommend..

4 channel amp with sub control. im not a fan of fusion but they do a good 100 x 4 amp which would be suitable.

sub - 12" sony xplode are pretty good for their price. you can pick them up for under 100.

headdeck - personally i like pioneer, good fine tuning controls and look good

front speakers - infinity or rockford components and if you can, get yourself a pair of 6.5" speakers for the back.

my prices are very approx but amp - 350, sub - 90 - headdeck 450 - fronts - 200

if thats too much then just get a slightly cheaper headdeck.

If it was me, i'd spend :
* Front components : $400
* Amp : $200
* Sub : $100
* Headunit : $300

Hunt around, look for good quality 2nd hand amps and subs. The headunit and fronts i'd buy new :)

I've got 6.5" speakers in the front (dont ask how I got them in cos it was a mission), 10" sub in the back and 6x9's in the parcel tray. Both the sub and the 6x9's are running off seperate amps, and using a decent Pioneer headdeck in my starlie. Sounds pretty good, tho at the moment with on seats the whole car is too hollow for any real bass :lol:

i cant speak for all the models of course. but we put in a panasonic mp3 while my pioneed got fixed. They were a very popular model last year anyway. but the sound quality compared to my pioneer was completely different, just didnt have that same processing tech or something?. all speakers are running off amps aswell, was just a shocking unexpected difference.
-bass distorting when cranked
-no where near as crisp in sound

to be honest the more expensive panasonic units were too over done with blue lighting,because it was the cool colour at the time. uck..havent checked out this years range so youll have to excuse me if they have developed something a little nicer

I'd recommend saving up a lil bit extra and get a MP3/CD headunit. Heaps better.
