ae101 amp installation

Postby Shads » Wed Aug 30, 2006 11:19 pm

Just currently trying to install an amp to run my front components in an ae101. After having a search on here / trying to locate and failing (go figure) the gromitt in the inside of the firewall to run the power cable for the amp through im kinda lost as to where it resides (seen a couple of different holes but none seem to the the right ones/ never realised how little space an engine bay has 0_o). Any help/photos would be greatly appreciated. :)

Get a 13mm drill bit, associated grommet, drill a hole and go from there. I've always found it the easiest way, you don't interfere with anything else and you can run it where you want it.

There should be a grommit or hole inside the guard on the passengers side one going into/out of the engine bay (just behind the strut tower) and one going from the inside guard into the cabin and coming out down in the kick panel or above it.

I guess, u might lose brakes, or maybe lose your fuel supply..... if hit an object under the car....

but if you happen to earth ya power supply to the bottom of the car by bottoming out.... i'd be rather worried! 8O

Hence the fusing at the battery. I think id rather bust a fuse than loose my breaks. Deecee is right tho, as you can just about garentee someone would not do it correctly.

Running all cables through there own grommeted holes is wise.

Use the correct grommet size for the cables and fuse correctly is a must as many a fresh install has gone up in flames due to careless behaviour.

There is an annoying amount of mucking round doing a propper install for power and RCA to speakers and amps and H/U but patience is a virtue with sound gear as a better result is always had.

If you need any more advise get hold of me I will help give you the correct info.
