Decent 4" components?

Postby MINTFX » Sat Mar 19, 2005 5:17 pm

Are there any out there? I dont really want to have to resort to putting pods in the doors if I dont have to. Ive seen some cheap Fusion ones on trademe for about $70. Just wondering if anyone can point me to a decent pair.

hey dude,
there are some very good 4" componets i have a pair of soundstream paid 500 4 them about 5 years ago,and still go good, but of course it would be better to have had a bigger set if possible for bass reasons, should ask on www.nzicemag.co.nz for more info on the best brands out at the mo

Hmmm, I dont exactly have a huge budget. Im only really looking for something that has average sound, just to even the sound out from the 6x9s in the back. I think ill just end up getting some of those fusion ones as they are cheap as chips and will do the job, better than the 40w sony ones i currently have in there.

The pioneer 4" componenets go pretty good for a 4" speaker too, should retail around $110

hey if you want any decent noise out 4 inchs you need boxes mine are in my stock boxes with a diaphram and they sound so awsome there like 2002 pioneer ones but they dont make them as good anymore but i assume they will sound just as good babble babble

USE A BOX OF SOME SORTS or inclose the area

OR

use an inline crossover to cut the bass so you can crack them without them being broken

use a fairly powerfull 100v 2uF bipolar cap

hey those 4inch Fusion ones on trade me for $70 - go to Street sounds in rugby st by the basin and they have the same ones for $50 or $60

Or you can get the next series up which are supposed to be a lot better for $150 - we are putting some of these in the Cynos

I know it's been a while since the last post here, but have you checked out the Soundstream 4" speakers? Checked them against (low spec?) Sony 6" costing $100 more and they were MUCH better.
They also have directional tweeters in the middle, and looked pretty well put together...
I would definitely consider them for my car once my finances sort themselves out...

I'll give the shop a call on monday- closed on w/e (yeah, s*** I know), and get the link for ya.

Tell me what you think by the way- looks like you've been shopping around for speakers, and I stumbled across them while checking out other goodies...

As do Rainbow... but then I don't expect you'll want to spend that sort of coin.

Sorry to take so long dude, but between work and having muppets crash into my car, I've been a bit busy- sorry bout that!

Just checked the Soundstream site, and, well, its a bit sh*t really. There is a mobile number (Mike & Deon 021 279 2060), but I was shown them through Autoworx in Hastings (www.autoworx.co.nz). Give 'em a call, or check the site for a nearby dealer.

Hope this helps dude! Now, where's that panel beater...

Yeah I wouldnt mind being hooked up with some descent 4"s. I purchased a pair of pioneers for $50 from repco yesterday but i put them in today and they sound shit. Hell its all ive got running at the moment but they still shouldnt sound as bad as standard speakers.

Are infinity speakers any good? I saw a pair of 4"s for $150 on incaraudio.

And btw just on a side note.. is it really bad to have 6x9s as well as a subwoofer in the back?

I have my 6x9s in my parcel tray which sits right about the sub. Doesn't seem to be any problems to me.

No problems, its just that the tweeters pull the soundstage back. I mean who nomrally listens to music comming from behind them?

If you need back speakers some 6.5" mid bass speakers are usually the best just to ballance it out. The 6X9 woffer does act as a mid bass woffer too though.
