Sub Installation

Dunno weather this is the place to post or not...

But i have a sub/amp both in the same box. Brand is "Typhoon" MGTPower Generation II...

I dunno much about sounds. Just have a question... where is a good place to get them installed and how much will it cost.

Must be in Auckland too.

Not exactly, but i wouldn't know what i'd be doing... wrong connections might screw it up etc etc. I want a good, safe job done.

If you jump on the NZICEmag forums someone will probably help out if you shout them a box of beers or something similar.

You'll also need cabling, and a sub box if you haven't got one already .

If you want to go with a mainstream store though, BASS (Botany Auto Sound Security) can do it - can probably supply you with cabling and maybe make you a box too (although I'm not sure on that).

For BASS to install it? Nope, but wouldn't expect it to be anymore than $150ish at a rough guess. Not including the purchase of cabling and the design/building/materials of a sub box.

Someone from the NZICEmag forums can probably do it just as well though, for a lot cheaper.

trust me boss just as long as the + connection from the amp to the batt is fused and the amp is grounded with the negative lead taken off the batt u cant go wrong, just bite the bullet and giv it a go

Yeah, he hasn't found out about toyspeed yet , but when he does expect some serious honda bashing, toyota upping etc.

But i think he is getting a mirage mivec so I think he'll stop caring

I've heard that putting the sub under the parcel tray (with the 6x9's) will damage the 6x9's cones... is that true?

And is there a way around it OTHER then the obvious - moving them completely?

It wont damage the cones, it will just muffle all of the bass which they produce, and would just sound like bad tweeers. You wont need 6x9s at all when you get a sub, Just romove them for good ay

Good idea = moving them out the window, releasing grip whilst driving at 100kph

Dump the 6x9 and get some good components. You can pick up an OK new set for around the $150 mark.
