Alarm Help!

Postby l3_vin » Mon May 01, 2006 6:21 pm

Hey,

i have a 91 levin gt....was thinking of getting it alarmed...nothing too flash....hoping on spending less than $200.

I saw this on trademe, can anyone tell me if its worth it?
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/0001-0 ... 997360.htm

Its a 2 way pager alarm, $110 by its self or $190 installed. Do you rekon the install price is worth it.

My car didnt come with central locking :( so i will need to get that installed as well. The guy charges $40 for each door for the unit and installment...is that a gud price?

thanx

a. the alarm pager on trademe only works 500m away from the car, only really good if you are within 500m of your car most of the time. also didn't see it say anything about a siren to attract attention.

b. put in the central locking yourself, pretty easy job and save you $$

I have never seen AE101 without central locking. There is possiblity that something is just broken, unlugged or fuse blown, to check if you have central locking there should be a button on the driver's door with "lock unlock" wrinting next to window controls.

i'd leave it a little bit if possible and save up a few more $$ to buy something better. $200 to $250 can usually buy something decent

Yep, AFAIK they're exactly the same except some stuff like power windows, central locking etc was optional whereas on the gt apex, its standard.
Seems Toyota was really big on weight reduction in its day

Also, honestly dude, don't bother with the shit on trademe. Save up ur money for a decent system, go to a dedicated shop and get it there. Then add about $60 to get central locking fitted or cheaper if u wanna go DIY. My Mongoose M60 has served me well
