Subwoofer distorting

Postby Emperor » Mon May 01, 2006 8:01 pm

When a sub starts cracking and distorting, and it goes from boom to crackle, is it maxing out?

Fusion 12", obviously a shity sub.

If I went to something like a DD(Digital Design) 1000 series, 12", would it stay boom even when pumped right up?
WOuld upgrading the amp also help?

Theres your problem. You should tune your stereo to max before the head unit it up full as this can cause a distorted signal. You will need to upgrade both sub and amp if you want to go louder but like i said turning amost any stereo up to full on the head unit will not sound nice, or blow up your subs.

sounds like you had it tuned wrong
i have had my $50 powerbase subs running far more than their rated power for ages now :D all depends if you are feeding them a crap signal or not

nothing wrong with over powering speakers. Infact is reccomended to have over head to stop a clipping signal from being sent to your speakers.
