Curren front speaker issues

Hey there, not quite sure if anyone has asked this yet, but I've had a look through and couldn't find anything so here goes.

Whilst i was ripping the door panels apart to replace the front door speakers for my currren, I came across the disgusting revelation that the enclosure (and seemingly the speakers themselves) are of the 8 inch variety. I have in my posession a pair of 6.5 inch soundstream speakers which I would personally prefer to have in there.

Does anybody know if anyone would sell prefabricated plates that would mean I could mount my 6.5's in the 8inch enclosure or am I left with the task of fabricating these myself?

it took me 5 min to cut out plates out of 8mm MDF with jigsaw.

Dont have the tools moved to hamilton recently and didnt take anything with me, don't know anyone with a workshop... Could probably find something at a stretch but if theres an easier alternative i would definately take it

go to a car audio place and they will have an adapter.
Don't goto somewhere that sells car audio like repco but a proper car audio shop.

I've heard bad things about MadSoundz and from their pricing i think i would rather fabricate something myself Only other place I had seen was Trendz(sp?) and they never seem to be open

I dunno much about Mad Soundz hamilton but the tauranga branch is awsome

Yeah their install charges are pretty horrendous, Im a lazy shit and I still tend to do all my audio work myself simply because 20min of their time is worth more than an horu of mine

Fusion do an 8" NV series for around the $300 mark. That's what I'm looking to do in my celica soon as I find some money lying around spare.

buy 8-12mm mdf. buy jig saw

thats all you need. and a drill maybe

lol the spaces cost less than $20 you cant buy mdf AND a jig saw for that. however the jig saw will be real useful for future fabrication.

Got some spacers made will need to find friends with workshops when I get into the boot unfortunately haha ><

you sure you can't buy a jigsaw for that? i'm pretty sure the warehouse / bunnings has a sub $20 range

failing that 4 cable ties might do the trick

I think my grinder was $16 from bunnings, stripped my starlet bare and still going strong

Aye indeed, have a $16 hammer drill random asian made looks cheap as but drills concrete etc never missed a beat yet!!!!

One of the best cordless drills I ever purchased was from the Warehouse. Still goes perfectly well today and would have been bought in about 1999. Having said that it was about $80.

Got it all sorted, got the mounts made for about 20 bucks, also popped a new pair of soundstream components into the the front and whacked another meaty JVC amp in the boot to powere them.

sigh... all my hard earned money is now gone haha
