Alarm keeps going off non-stop when armed

Postby kim0663 » Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:48 pm

it just doesn't stop if i arm the alarm, doors locked. So i keep it unarmed and manually lock both doors. Central locking doesn't seem to work either unless i lock it using the alarm.

Also to note, since some time before, the door open warning light never wanted to go out (which came with the alarm problem).

Door open sensors are fine, alarm is connected to it fine, then a wire splices off the wire that comes from the door sensor and goes to the red light (door open warning light) inside the door card.

These wires are not at all factory. I cut the wire from the door card light. This solved the door open warning light from dash and it goes off and on as normal. But the alarm still keeps going.

Is the alarm thinking that the doors are still open even if closed? or is this something else? I say this as the door open warning light started malfunctioning with this problem at the same time.

car is a 1991 mr2 glimited if it makes any difference..

alarm going off

Postby lowglrolla » Mon Feb 16, 2009 11:14 pm

yea one of the switches must either be broken or bent . depends how the installer hooked them up as usually you put a pin switch in the front boot. connect to the door circuit , put a pin switch on the engine cover and also connect to the boot switch . could be any of those causing problems if no diodes were used to isolate the circuits . some alarms just have one input , and some have a door and boot/bonnet and some have all separate inputs.

yeah, most good alarms will have diodes built into the circuit board though

the remote looks like a elcheapo chinese alarm ay lol probably doesn't have any diodes as such.... wireing is FKN dodgy too, not even soldered and taped up. Not even loomed.

Not a professional install at ALL.
