SW20 mr2 iso adaptor

Postby Al » Fri Aug 05, 2011 9:23 pm

Picked up a cd player for my sw20 and got the correct iso adaptor for the cd player but got the wrong one for the car end. The one I picked up has two plugs. The factory toyota cassette deck only has one plug out. Is there an mr2 specific one?

Hmmmm

Firstly
Does the MR2 have the premium sound or whatever that has the factory external amp?

If so then they are a pain to sort out.

Secondly
The iso lead that you do have,
1/ do all the speakers go to one plug and the powers to another,
or
2/ is there 4 speaker wires to one plug and 4 speaker wires plus the powers to the other

Well then you have the right adapter, just the wrong car.

If you are lucky you can search in behind the factory stereo and find the plugs that connect to your ISO loom,
they will be plugged into a loom that runs away to the amp,
so you will have to unplug them and connect your iso loom.
They may be taped to the factory loom or cliped to a bracket out of the way.

If they are not there then you are in trouble as it requires a fair bit of wiring, or an amplifier bypass loom,
as there wil be no speaker connections behind the dash.
