Calling all Gen II MR2 owners...

Do other makes using AFM's suffer the same issues as the MR2s with relation to over fueling when running aftermarket atmo bov's??

I ran one on my Gen II for a couple of years with no problems except it ran a LITTLE bit rough on gear changes compared to the oem plumb back. Im pretty sure Torz is still running it with no issues.

Cheers

yeah, i ran external venting one for couple of years. No problems. When i first put it on would blow some nice flames on de-acceleration, due to a lil over fueling. Stopped after a while, assumed the ecu made a small adjustment ? who knows.

..have since converted to map sensor, but can still make it backfire by feathering the gas as the bov is dumping  yay for flames

mates rx7 did exactly the same thing when he fitted extrnal dumping bov

Umm, I fitted the Blitz one at the same time I did the LinkPlus, so I've never had any issues with it.

I occasionally vent the facto one to the atmosphere and the car runs like utter crap, i block up the return pipe with a 1.5 litre coke bottle lid and just put the pipe outta the way. The thing leaks occasionally while its venting to the atmo so it may be just that my facto BOV is farked.

BTW KiwiMR2 i thought you had a Gen1 (1989-1991) before the Gen3 since it had the 14"s ?

First up I had a 1990 G-limited with the factory 14's, then A 1990 GT with aftermarket 16's, now a Gen III with factory 15's.....so yeah, Gen I but hey G1 & G2 are much the same.

Turbosmart Supersonic BOV on my ST205 because that's what it came with.
No BOV on my ST185 because that's what it came with
Unless you've got a fragile (ceramic) turbo you don't need a bov, not even a stock one on a GenII even on higher boost.

I run an atmo BOV on my genII st185 and it would sometimes stutter badly after backing off and gunning it again. Makes sense that this would happen with the stoopid AFM.
Going to MAP now so its not an issue.
But you can get a 50/50 plumb back / atmo BOV now which leaves some air in the system while venting enough to make the PSHHH noise we all know and love :D
