COOP-"AY".... pronounciation preferred by campy artsy types, or by those inhabiting an area like Highbury in Palmy, or Otara.

COOP.... pronounciation preferred by us normal folk... also what chickens live in.

good point 92GTApex

both ways of saying coupe are correct, although the "coop "ay" way of saying it is the original way it was intended to be pronounced. i rekon "coop" is just the easiest and most widly understood way to say it.

Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

gfs missus hates it when i call a 2 door car a c00p....shes english u see, and they have to be oh so correct in the way of grammar, and i always get told off for saying it wrong "ITS Coouuuup ayyyeeee" shell say to me in her strong southern london accent...

but i know which i prefer, its a hell of a lot more kiwi to say c00p than couuupaye, makes u sound like ur from remuera or something and drive a pajero thats never seen dirt before...

well yeah, coop is kiwi, but the back ground is french, coupaye being to cut or has been cut (ish) which is why it is used for smaller, or two door cars, you could try and be fancy next time someone drops their guts and say (in keywee spelling) "key oh coupaye la fur marge" (who cut the cheese).
