OK i know what and where an engine is but when codes come into play i fluffed, cant you just say big engine and bigger engine?

that would be like saying a ke30 is a smaller engine than a 2JZGE, which it is.

but saying that gives no one any idea of how big or what sort of engine!!

There are 3 engine variants for the Altezza
2L 4 cyl 3SGE @154kw (6 speed manual) or 150kw (auto)
2L 6 cyl 1GFE @118kw manual or auto
3L 6 cyl 2JZGE @162kw 5 speed tipronic auto only (or 4 speed in AWD models)

I have owned an RS200 2L 4 cyl 6 speed and currently own an AS300 Gita 3L; they are very very different cars but IMO the 2JZGE suits the car better, auto notwithstanding. I sold the RS200, I don't think I will ever sell the Gita. If you wanted a base for a serious performance car, rather than a sports sedan/wagon, then the RS200 6 speed would be a better base, but not as good as an MR2 turbo

as200
so i could base my 2jz turbo conversoin around it

but i have driven a 6spd beams tezza and loved it soooooo much, still reckoned it needed a turbo or a supercharger on the side of the block tho

After going for a quick squirt in Tezza's car, I'd have to say the BEAMS 3SGE > 1GFE
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!
