Petrol Prices

Postby SurfWagon » Wed Mar 02, 2005 10:15 am

Should Petrol Price rises only apply to cities that get roadworks and of course worked out accordingly to each location's share of the road funding budget.

I think it's unfair that we only get like a small portion (CHCH) of the National roading budget but we have to pay 5c - 6c , to cover Aucklands roads when they pay the same amount but get substantially more funding for their motorways..

This country is so biased towards Auckland. It's liken to Americas Cup which was more Aucklands cup than anything else..

I think it should be like this

Southland/Otago - 2 cent increase
Canterbury/West coast and Nelson Bays - 3 - 4 cents increase
rural and small town Nth Island regions 5 cents
Wellington 6 cents
Auckland 8 cents

That they are.

A couple of years ago, a stretch of road was totally re-done. A couple of months later, they were full of corrigations and what not. Absolute crap.

Relative price distibution.

If people choose to drive in auckland then they should pay for their roads while other centres pay for their own.

What irks me is petrol was $1.25 when our dollar was only worth 40c US. Now its worth 70c US, and the petrol is still $1.25...

It pisses me off that fuel prices go up the second theres the slightest hint of trouble in the Gulf, and yet our dollar almost doubles in value and it doesnt drop a bit...

Remember, these companies pay for their fuel in $US, so they are actually paying HALF what they used to a few years ago for a barrel, and the price hasnt changed at our end... in fact, they've seen fit to bump it UP...
