In my opinion anyway, JVC is much, MUCH better than the current crop of Sony products...

Probably, but then as you can see, I'm not a huge Sony fan.

I voted Alpine, i now have Alpine speakers all round after trying a few other brands including Sony - so far bang for buck the Alpine kicks ass!

Ps. If you want alpine at a good price go to http://www.incaraudio.co.nz or http://www.parallelimported.co.nz

Never pay RRP!!!

I have a JVC MP3 head deck which i think is ok, it was cheap and IMO the build quality is the same ie. it looks plasticy but if you dont want or dont need all the fancy equalisers etc you cant really go wrong

Meh, spend a little more and get some quality Onkyo and B&W like me 8)

Wharfdale is heading down the same road as Sonys car audio - new stuff aint as good as the older stuff so they are relying on the name to sell it!

How do you figure that? The current Diamond and Pacific Evolution series have consistantly outscored most speakers 2x the price in most head to head comparisons, and the new Diamond 9's have more awards than i've had hot dinners :) The new Diamond 9.1 bookshelves and Diamond 9 SW150 sub were joint winners of What HiFi's 'product of the year' award...

Lets put it this way, i sell both Wharfedale and B&W, and a $600 pair of Diamond 8's absolutely butrapes a pair of $1300 B&W 309's... not to mention, if you spend $1300 you can get Diamond 9.6's and you're in 'giving $3500 B*W DM604's the fright of their life' territory :)

Heh. No offense, but thats like saying you need a bigger engine and asking for suggestions... it all comes down to how much you want to spend and how much aesthetics is an issue for you :)

Heh, sounds like your wall socket cant supply as much current as you need ;)

What brand of amp? 500w x 5 is 'arc welder' territory, $10,000 HT amps only put out about 200wRMS per channel or so :)
