Well technically the other thread is way off topic and this issue has consumed it so it does seem the proper thing to do to have its own thread!!

I am simply amazed of the narrow minded views of people on this board, ironically the strongest 'anti' opinions all come from the South Island

Look at the facts:

For:
People (including myself) have seen BZ-R autos here in NZ
Original Toyota sales media states BZ-R is available in both auto and manual, likewise the BZ-R V Spec (better known as BZ-V) is also available auto or manual
Japanese web-sites list BZ-R autos for sale

Against:
Inconsistancy in EPC on this model
Russian web-site information
Conspiracy theorum

Do people really think that the BZ-R was such the cult car that everybody made 'replicas' from auto BZ-V's? i don't think it was that much of an important car.

car.

You could also look at it the other way:

Apart from the People who claim to have seen them even though they arent qualified to be able to distinguish between the models and could very well be like a game of chinese wispers, The examples are all media that is trying to sell these cars.
ie. Lets tell the unsuspecting buyers that its a BZ-R

Whereas the website and EPC are'nt trying to pretend there is a model that doesnt exist or glorifiing a BZ-V to sell it and are only lisiting proven models for either information or parts lisitings

For you to say we are narrow minded is like the pot calling the kettle black isnt it?

 How?

Explain how your conspiracy theorm has more status then the simple fact that Toyota officially advertised and sold BZ-R auto's? The facts are they exist, people have seen them, it really seems there is more merit to the fact they exist and that the EPC database has a glitch within it then the EPC being evidence that a vehicle that people have seen does not exist???

Surely, Warwick can fire an e-mail off to Japan to get some closure on this matter? Until such time i maintain that given the 'evidence' treating BZ-R autos as not existing definitely calls for narrow mindedness.... I will happily change my stance if someone can without doubt prove me wrong

OMG you serious?

Bz-v is a Bz-r in V spec?

V spec in the skylines, and silvias (i think) a few other cars were V spec as well.

Generally means Veilside spec..... came with more bling bits, and a different ecu. so you cant be serious that a bz-v is a bz-r with veilside bits....

 Again the narrow mindedness of southerners pops up!! Yes, V Spec can only ever mean Veilside specification  Tell me you are joking and not serious???

But it does stand to reason that the BZ-V is a direct derivative of the BZ-R hence it could be refered to as a BZ-R V spec.... would also stand to reason why the chassis codes are the same, maybe the differences in spec is not picked up by that particular coding hence they are the same.....

How can it be when a BZ-V existed 3 years before the BZ-R was released?

In the 97.4 models..... i would assume that under the older model's it was a derivative of the 'sportier' SS BZ-G variant

What the hell are you smoking?

V-spec doesn't come in silvias.

Nissan and Toyota V-specs have nothing in common.

V-spec means "victory specification". Veilside had NOTHING to do with it.

No "bling bits" or "different ECU". Try different wheels, bigger brakes, slight aerodynamic mods. (On skylines).

V-spec only applies to GTRs as well... gtst/gts4 have "M spec", which again is different wheels and bigger breaks compared to non-mspec.

I have been to a used car site in Japan which sells from all dealers (Large companies to small companies) called ‘Car Sensor’ similar to ‘Auto Trader’ it’s the biggest used car site/magazine in Japan, over 150,000 cars advertised in one magazine (about 5cm thick), which is updated monthly…

Out of this site, I have only found “ONE” BZ-V for sale in Japan right now… where there are about 30+ BZ-R and BZ-G Auto’s and Manual’s…

I wonder why there are only BZ-R’s and BZ-G’s but "NO" 04.97 onwards BZ-V’s????

This doesn’t mean BZ-V’s don’t exist…

One big correction… The only ‘one’ BZ-V was a pre face-lift (before 04.97)… Since it had the old lights and 5MT if you look closely in details…

I really wonder… where did all the 98 spec BZ-V’s go??? Did they really change the badges to BZ-R’s???

http://www.carsensor.net

Have a look for yourself… this is not 100% correct… but it gives you an idea…

 But Phil the EPC is proof that there are 4.97+ BZ-V's

Maybe this means that after 4.97 the BZ-V's were badged BZ-R's but with a lesser interior specification...... so the facelift BZ-V is the one that doesn't exist????

I know that EPC says that and that EPC is 100% accurate...
But somehow... I haven't seen any for sale...
Maybe that it is so rare to get one and that BZ-R's are more common...?!?!
Maybe you are right... maybe they were badged to BZ-R's instead of BZ-V's... and maybe BZ-V's don't exist since not even one BZ-V is for sale in whole of Japan?!?!?

Yet... I don't get why there are still heaps of auto BZ-R's there... Maybe Japan is up to something...
I am lost... there's auto BZ-R's... no BZ-V's in manual or auto... what's going on in Japan with AE111 20v's???
Have they really gone into all this fuss to make BZ-V's all BZ-R's and have auto's too... That's a lot of extra labour cost just to do all that... Maybe Toyota HQ had too much money back in 4.97 onwards....

 Facelift BZ-V's don't exist because they were all rebadged to BZ-R's by the dealers
