Yes, because I believe the new rules (as much as I hate them) will make it easier for them, and I also believe that chewy is losing his touch.

yes the new rules......
on one hand it makes it harder to race in the pits....
and on the other it eliminates stratagy options and the oppertunity for screw ups.

i dont think schu is losing it, look at last season. most domanante ever.

in what way do you think the rules help toyota??

btw lap 38 and toyota 2 and 4!!!!

I'm not too sure actually, I'd sure as hell like to see it happen though!
Dugtrio used Earthquake. It's super effective.

Because the new rules are geared to help the less competitive teams keep up. Lets face it - until now Toyota has not been in the same league as Ferrari and McLaren.

hmmm i disagree....

in what way?
everyone plays to the same rules.... they dont give toyota an advantage that ferrari misses out on. in some ways its increased the challenge... engines have to be more reliable, and chassis have to be easier on tyres... so it actually increases the challenge

For example, the tyre rule. Lap times are much slower now, which brings everyone closer together. Where the Ferrari boys are now running slowing laps than ever, the lap times for the less competitive teams are not changing so dramatically. This brings them closer in terms of driver skill.

The engine rule; Rev limits and power outputs have dropped, making the slower cars now more competitive to the unlimited budgets of the faster cars. This closes the gap in terms of the cars.

Aerodynamics - same as the engine rules - the cars are all slower now, bringing the les competitive teams closer to the big boys.

Dude, F1 has always been a real race. It's some of the best (if not THE BEST) racing around, and probably the most elite class of racing.

Yes, but with limitations, they now require not only driver skill to improove, but different ways of making power....

should be interesting.

now make a 6 rotor and enter that :D.

times havnt changed that much... havnt checked maylasia but at melbourne times were not that much different, there certainly was suprise at how little they did change. having said that times later in the race are quite a bit lower as youd expect.

the revs and power have not changed stuff all, in fact some teams have gained power.

changing rules to slow cars down does not make it easier for other teams, they still have to do the work and testing etc. they all still have the same rules, so the team that works them best will win. the way it has always been.

the reason ferrari are struggling is one or a combination of 3 things.

1, the hybrid based on last years car just doesnt work with the new aero/tyre rules

2, ferrari didnt improve as much as others in the off season.

3, bridgestone have missed with the new tyres.

having said that, i think rule changes to make it more competitve is a good thing, i do wish they alter the rules to make it possible for them to actually RACE

Hahaha a 12L V12! :D That would make the car a hell of a lot longer!

Bear in mind, these engines are only like 1.3l - 2.0l ;)

Well I was closer than 12L hehehe

But I think Toyota will probably do well this year. Seeing as they've got a lot of pressure on their shoulders from the big-wigs back in Japan to have a podium finish.

Well, that's a matter of opinion. I enjoy F1 second only to V8 supercars.

I'm just frustrated about all these new rules, making the cars slower, and more difficult to race. I think the new tyre rule is one of the stupidest rules ever made. They should use the new tyre pit rule that V8's bought in this year - only 2 rattle guns per pit crew.
