Help me here - What should I choose for Racing?

As a lot of you people know, I need a new dirt track race car for when I turn 17 or there abouts, I'm ideally looking for a cheap and light weight 4WD Turbo and manual of corse It doesn't have to be a toyota, anything will be considered so I was wondering on you peoplez choices on this Just consider that it can't be too small and weak, heavy, slow and not have too many traction issues Please give me some ideas as I just thought up just a few off the top of my head and I'm sure there are more and maybe better options

My old flatmate has a 1985 Langley Turbo (Pulsar) that he races in B Grade in Gisborne and it is a super car, so I would have to say a forced induction small car seems to be ideal ...

Buy a munted GT4 from the damaged vehicle auctions, do a rangi fix-up job, lock the difs. Sorted.

get a subaru brumby ute, chuck a 13b turbo, pp in it, running 4wd still...traction prob sorted, and you will also have a rota!!!!!!!!!! woo hoo!!!!!

or, a 4wd bongo van, chuck a rota in it, blah

a celica supra would be quite good for dirt racing.
Im presuming you are talking about an oval track?
170hp rwd is all good and weighing in at 1275kgs it shouldnt be too hard to get it close to the 1000kg mark.
Parts are hard to get, but then again you wont be needing mint panels so you should be sweet.
the gearbox is also tougher than bens grandma.

ive talked to some rally ppl who use them (it was at a grasskana not actually doing a rally at the time) and they seem to go pretty hard.

How much do you reckon a munted ST165 Celica GT4 cost? I probably don't really want to spend for than $1500.

Yeah, a lot of people have those RWD Celica Supras at dirt track (some guy blew his up last meeting ), they are well built and strong (which you need in impact) The straight 6 goes hard and they are lighter than supras, are they turbo?, or are only some models turbo? Oh yeah, the dirt track isn't completly oval it's got a hair pin at one end which you really need a grunty RWD to pull yourself through, us juniors don't pull through too good in our FWD's unfortunatly Any other info would be appreciated , cheers.

Well, least it's a suggestion I guess , I think the familia 1600 turbo option would be more promising

some of the celica supras are turboed, pretty rare tho, think it was a 1ggte motor.
it is pretty cheap to turbo a 5mge (2.8l straight 6) using parts from a 7mgte.
built like tanks.
$1500 will get you a mint one, which you can then sell some good parts off it to make some money back, and then buy some parts not as mint.
like doors and hatch etc if in mint condition and then slightly damaged ones, as you dont need mint looking car.

No 4WD, but 4WD cars can be converted to 2WD

Some rules might be different for you, but you should look at them closely before choosing. Also choose a car that has heaps of spares - my flatmate had his B Grade all prestine and other drivers AIMED for him!!!

We are allowed 4WD's as far as I know, but before I jump into anything I'll do my research definatly. I think the good 'ol Celica Supra option is best so far.
