Postby johndoe1025 » Sat Dec 06, 2008 10:40 am

looking to sell the BZG soon(just gotta get the sunroof working and then its going) and im tryna figure out what car to get next. been considering a manual GTT caldina, chaser tourer V, NZ new is200 manual, or a NZ new GS300(dad works for lexus hahaha) what you guys reckon? and also, post up on what you reckon ones worth? for the 1st two, doesnt really matter on the lexus'. im looking at cars with around90,000-140,000 k on the clock.

Haven't looked on trademe for them for a while but I seem to remember most GTT's being sub 10k. Autos were around 8-9000 maybe up to 11k for a manual?

No idea on the chaser sorry.

I like the lexus is200 (do they still run the beams 3sge like the altezza rs200?)

Cant say on the GS300, I'm sure Boosted_162 could tell you about them

Should have asked what do you want to get from the car, is it something you will do up or just want shomething reliable that you can cruise in?

Never driven the 6 cyl motor, have heard people praise and diss them though. I am sure an SC would help though!

yeh itsa TTE/TRD kit, he did a couple of them but they dont sell too well so you can get them relatively cheap if you can find one (from memory theres like a total of 3 or 4 in NZ) the 6 cyl a bit lethargic, but hell nice cruiser! im jusst after something thats still reasonably quick, but is nice to drive, comfortable, lower K so i dont have to worry bout things wearing out so much. so a quick cruiser :P and it hasta be reasonably practical. was looking at c35 laurels and spec R s15s but think they not really what i want. the reason i want NZ new lexus' is because of the speedo, stereo and interior. eg altezza is cloth, is200 leather/suede

Not too clued up on the JZS161, but the 2JZs are great motors. Just dont expect great fuel consumption :P. I really like my GS300, but im still thinking of a change. Sacking mine really was a dumb idea, hole in the exhaust already

Plus as you probably know, Lexus cars come with all the wicked extras like electric seats, auto tilt steering etc etc.

Nope, but it seems its a 2JZ thing. Mine might be slightly worse than others, but they arent great. But the torque makes up for it :D

One of these:

4.4L V8. Great for long distance, fantastic fun around town. Most comfortable car in the world. Sounds better than sex. I can't think of a reason why I shouldn't have bought this car. Fuel economy I got 52.6 KM/L at one point :)

Tow trucks don't count in fuel economy runs ;)

From the list you're given for voting, the choice would be easy as. Chaser without a doubt. IS200 is boring and gutless, GS300 if you're over 50, GTTs seems to be everywhere and the Chasers are awesome.

No offence intended to anyone who owns any of the above cars. Excepts IS200s

yeah sorry looking between 8-14 ish k (depending on when i get it, how much ive saved and how much i get for my levin) ill also note most of my driving is around town, so it needs to be reasonably good on gas round town.

None of those cars will be that flash on fuel around town, particularly after driving a 20v.
