Its most definitely yellow - although I've never seen it applied on the roads before . Is a bit of a tricky one though. I was in the situation of the Blue Car once and got violently tooted and yelled at by the yellow car who was supposed to be giving way to me

x2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All you people who think you're 'enthusiasts' and yet don't know the road rules...

Shall we post the correct answer, or wait for a bit longer to see if the vote swings one way or another?

Not a bad idea.. I'll post it on a few more forums and see what the response is like..

Stay tuned for later today - snwtoy presents the poll on how to indicate through a roundabout... ;)

easiest way i remember it

IF im turning and its an unmarked turn if we were to both turn at the same time and hit, I would be in the wrong, if my drivers side gets hit its my fault.

easiest way to remember, drivers side gets hit your in the wrong

Yellow, without even reading this thread.

love this, at these intersections when id be the yellow car, id lurch out if they were turning, and you should see their faces! thinking they have the right of way!

What the $&#$%. This is messed up, although im not suprised.

I remember the road code stating clearly that at an unmarked intersection, in this case, the yellow car would give way.

Man New Zealand must be full of skilled drivers, what scares me is most of the people who have answered this question probably did one of their driving tests not to distant past....

I tend to wait and see what the other driver is going to do before I pull out. The yellow car in theory should give way but 99.999% of people dont which makes me just let people go in that situation because im not going to sacrafice my car to some idiot who doesnt know the road rules.

Heh, I put blue which I now know is wrong :( Road code says if someone is turning right out of a car park or something and you are turning right into it then you should give way. So so never happens and isn't practical really.

I always remember the rule.
Give way to cars on your RIGHT, turning RIGHT

I think its a fair rule too, because those cars have to cross 2 lanes of traffic, where as you only have to cross 1 lane of traffic

Yellow is supposed to give way cause it's a completely uncontrolled intersection so give way to right.

But really. If you were blue, would you risk it. I wouldn't. Panel beaters are expensive, and not having a car is a pain in the A big time.

I always thought a goos rule of thumb was "If the other car will hit your driver's door, they have the right of way" unless otherwise indicated by signs, roadmarkings etc etc......

Therefore, I picked yellow

Yeah, I always think to myself "if we were to collide and my driver's door got hit, I'd be in the wrong"! End of story!! Right hand rule!

There are quite a few roads around like this one and it's really scary!!

When in doubt, visually communicate with the other driver, just to make sure you're both on the same page, ensuring that you're not both going to go at the same time and then at the first convenience, LOOK IT UP so you know for next time! :D

erm...
We have an (unmarked) T intersection. However lack of markings is irrelevant.

This is therefore similar to a driveway...

Through traffic gets right of way... Why would traffic thats already moving have to come to a stop for traffic which should be stopping (using Give Way rules) anyway???)

I'm suprised theres so much division over this!

Yup..
The road code contradicts what I just said...
But I maintain that my position is right

/sarcasm

Put it another way
My answer is exactly right where the blue car is controlled by a give way or stop sign, or where the blue car is in a driveway, not a road (ala, its not marked as bidirectional).

how often do you find an intersection similar to that described which is an _actual road_ and is _unmarked_?

Because the minute it is a marked road, my statement is true.

The examples which make my statement false don't (or shouldnt') exist, for the exact reason that this thread is so contradictory - it confuses drivers.

So if someone knows of an intersection that fits the bill of this sample intersection, post up some digi photos??? I'd be quite interested. Its the kind of thing you'd immediately petition your local council about.
