I always think 'merc' if I see one head-on.

Mmm yes, I can see what you mean as well! - they do have that merc look. I also found that the ls430 was very similar too the MB S500

I guess that because These cars are designed to compete with mercs etc

Personally id take a cima or ls430 one over a merc with similar power output as they are more reliable and too many people just buy a crap merc to say they have one! Be original and go for a lexus or something :D

Yeah, i didnt include the Century because a) they are rare b) they are expensive c) they arent exactly pretty.....I had a look at a few of them when i was in Japan, nice engine yeah but the interior looks like it hasnt been updated since the 80s and the exterior is the same...a conservative car for very conservative business men.

Interesting piece of trivia- Before you can buy a Century, Toyota checks to make sure you arent associated with the Yakuza.........most of them drive Euros from what i saw anyway

Anyway, i went for the Crown Athelete- I was super impressed with them: With a Toms kit (factory option) they look hot.....and you cant argue with 235 KW either (not sure how much that would drop by on NZs shite fuel)
The interior is great too- awesome touchscreen and 'Navi' (thats what Japanese call GPS navigation), independant stereo/climate controls for the rear passengers......real cool

I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing the new Crowns in NZ?

Uzz30- If you like the Cima then you'll love the Fuga 450GT....same 4.5l V8 but in a much more attractive body IMHO.......

I would love to have any of these newer large Japanese cars...it would leave a lot of people guessing if you were driving around in one of them....

What other car lets you decide between v8 rwd / v8 4wd / TT rwd / TT 4wd. Also in the soooooper VIP models.

Because it looks like the Soarers horribly deformed twin brother that everyone denies was ever born

As much as I hate the whole VIP scene, the Aristro and white Athlete on the first page do look the part

Well the Aristo almost does (in the older shape at least) V8 4WD in the Aristo ZiFour, RWD TT then there is the older Crown which is V8 and RWD (same floor plan im pretty sure)

If only our frontal impact laws werent so stoopid....id be driving around in a Jzx90 MarkII Tourer V....black, tinted....mmmmm
