It's our democratic right not to vote, heaven forbid we wind up like Australia where you get fined for not voting. Personally, none of the parties represent my interests or make a difference to my life in a meaningful way. I still get up every day, shit, shower, shave and go work, the world continues to go round and I get paid. Since stopping watching or reading the news I've realized that government politics the only thing of note that's come to my attention is having to press 2 less buttons on the calculator when working out GST…

Can they fine you for leaving ballot paper blank or alternatively crossing all out? This is what I will be doing if they introduce fine.

Don't know, none of my Aussie mates are online right now to ask. If it's anything like here once you get your name ticked off then they have no idea who does what on ballot papers.

I was thinking about it, and if it comes to electronic voting machines, it will be tricky not to vote ...

Indeed, best reply to anyone who questions why I don't vote: "Why should I cue up to choose which bastard is gonna steal what I earn for the next 3 years?"

Umm maybe you guys dont watch or listen to the news much but considering one of them just admitted sexual assault on a child under 12 I'd be pretty sure they wont be anywhere near politics forever more

Its suppressed, but people can still go and view the court proceedings.

But lets not talk about that in here.....

You just have to turn up and get your name ticked off, people can still choose to not vote for ideological reasons, but you can't not vote just because you're too much of a lazy pie-eating barstard to show up.
NZ has a good voter turnout (compared to everywhere else) so it's not an issue here.
