4G93's are the 1800 thing, which have rods the strength of balsa wood. The VR4 also have a 4G63, which has sturdier rods etc than the later 4G63.

Cheers, that's the one I was thinking of. Are the 4G93 the FWD GSR ones? I also have total respect for some of the big Hemis. Yeah I know this is a jap car forum, but cars with those things in them just smoke it up so well. Finding a light weight jap car that would fit one and jamming it in would make a mean skid car.

I've actually been led to believe they are a little more elaborate than that - and are actually pipe cleaners with clay moulded around them, and spray painted a metallic colour.

I think the Honda K20A is one of the coolest motors on the market in a production car at the moment - if I were told about the things people could achieve from them a good 10 years ago, I think I'd have been find justifying by slapping the person who suggested the concept with a bag of Uncle Bens finest.

Not all of them, my old mans got a FWD GSR with a 4G93 (1800 Turbz), but its a 2005 model lancer with GSR motor, Evo 9 suspension, brakes, interior. But theres only 2 in New Zealand, so not sure if it really counts :P

k series definatly!
escort 1300 just keeps on going, on 3 cylinders we got to 160kmh, valve bouncing from 150 to 160!

and watever motor is in a 70s civic we got really stuck in one once so put a brick on the accelerator sat back and watched it do a redlineing burnout in 1st for like half an hour before the motor finally gave up.

i dont know how ANYONE can have respect for the 3a, my 3a is the biggest piece of poos! i would actually prefer a 4k.

I'd have to go for the mighty 4K as my one went through pushrods like they were going out of fashion and 3 headgaskets but still did 120km/hr on 3 cylinders. and the head was machined to the tabs and I reckon thats tough

Part of me wants to try that, the other part says I need a daily driver that works . But yea, thumbs up to the 3sf beast, it's the only part of my car that isn't stuffed I think.

4K for the win..............but the mighty 3T is a hell of a lot tougher. can't kill them, have tried for 15 years, they seem to gain HP with a blown HG!!

build them loose to take abuse!

4G92 mivec :D where's your check box for that

But we're talking toyota ... hands down winner for me is 4AGE, all three of mine have handled being raced, abused and run out of oil. It's a gem in my world, thus the reason I bought the mighty AE92 for a daily.

Haha funny that, we had a written off ke70 with the trusty 4k in it. Sat it outside the dump on the limiter in to our knowledge it never blew up, all the plastics and other flammables cought fire instead! indestructable motors I must say, thats repect :P

Has to be the 3s-ge. My 86 Corona with the 1st Gen had done about 450,000k's when I sold it on the original clutch. Was my Dad's old workhorse, and me and 4 other siblings all learned to drive in it! :o My oldest brother also used to race it in his military days. Engine was still going strong when I got rid of it. I was so impressed with it that i went on to buy a 3rd gen 3s-ge attached to my 96 celica :D
