I have a N/A AW11 MR2 at the moment that neads a new clutch soon, new front shocks and a few other bits fixed on it. Do you think I should keep the car and spend the money cleaning it up or upgrade to somthing a little bigger and more useful ( more than 2 seats!)

You only just bought it man, if the bodyworks good and it doesn't have much if any rust then I say keep it cos things like clutches and shocks aren't really all that expensive especially if you do some or all of your own labour.

I know, but I have a bad feeeling about this car...it has already had a coolant problem that cost me $350 to get fixed and a day off work, I just can't afford to have an unrerliable car cause I live In Manurewa and work in Albany

at least you know, whats been done to it, what happens if you spend all you money on a car that turns out to be a lemon, and you've blown all your cash on it.
believe me I've been there and it sucks balls

the problem with my cooling system was the o ring around the thermostat housing perished and blew out....all the water gets pumped out and you can't drive it. thankfuly it happened just by a friends house so I got him to tow me Home, but it ended up costing $350 for new thermostat housing/ o-ring/thermostat and a few other small bits and pieces. the main hassle is that I had to take a day off work, and I want to go away soon so Im trying to get as many holiday days as possible

thats the worst problem i have found with the aw11 and most of the other aw11 owners i have talked to but other than that they are pretty reliable and economical the only bad thing i have heard is of the cooling system but its ur decision really if u like a car with a few extra seats or a fun car

Yeah, I think I am coming around to the idea of cleaning it up a bit more and holding on to it...I think it was a bit of a lemon when I bought it but most of the problems are fixed now, I wold hate to sell it and buy another lemon and have to start all over again.

why do you want to get rid of your car? I thought you were going to do it up with a turbo motor?
