Which ever RX7 or Supra you'd get if money was no object for you ;) But I figured that when I said "Twin Turbo..." people would have presence of mind to figure I meant FD RX-7 vs. JZA80 RZ

I'd prefer a gen5 GTS MR2 over either of them but i'd choose the supra just for the torque

FD for sure, I doubt a Supra could ever handle or stop as well as an RX-7.

As Lith said, money is not an object and in that case I'd say an RX-7 however in reality the Supras reliabilty and the RX-7's lack of fuel economy would make the reverse decision for me.

And you're saying that a 3l twin turbo 6 pulling at least 500kg more would have good fuel economy?
If you revved a supra to 9krpm everyday you'd probably have reliability issues too.

RX-7 gets my thumbsup.

can i do a 50/50 vote

cause the 7s abillity to " be one of the best balanced cars ever made " stop and go around cnrs like shiit stuck to a blanket 2nd to none

but with a few good mods the supra can to

I guess I should add some seeing as this is my poll. I picked the RX7, though in real terms the Supra would be a more "sensible" option.

The RX7s are notorious for being bad on gas, compared to 4cylinders and NA 6s and 8s ;) However in comparison to large turbo 6s they aren't THAT bad. I have a lot of Best Motoring videos here, and some of them have "Endurance" races which show fuel economy etc. Interestingly enough, the Series 8 RX7s rate more or less equal with a WRX STi and better than a R34 GTR in hard out thrashing conditions - which is where a rotary would be at its worst. I can't imagine a 3l 6cyl twin turbo in a heavy shell being better... however reliability is something the 2JZGTE is very well known for.

There are over 1000hp RX7s running around, admittedly most of them running 20Bs - but 13Bs can pull that as well. You are selectively missing major points though, the RX7 doesn't need 1200hp to match a 1200hp Supra in power/weight - and lower inertia means that the RX7 can use that weight that little bit better, having an advantage launching (drag) and changing direction (track). An RX7 was one of the first 6s imports, afterall...

Also, you say with a few good mods the Supra can do the going around corners like shit stuck to a blanket etc - thats to overcome a natural advantage the RX7 has, the RX7 can ALSO be modified to further improve its handling.... anything you can do to one, can also be done to the other.

are you meaning drag racing if so supra was first into 6s :D
rx7 second a few weeks later.
a mate of mine has got a s6 cost about $100 to come up and visit
cost me in my supra $50, both about same hp.
my choice would be a s7 with a supra motor in it 8O

A 300rwkw RX7 should be able to show a 300rwkw Supra its tail lights, and costing twice the fuel to get from one place to another implies there is more to the story. Either real bad tune, or an incredibly heavy foot!!

A Series 7 with a Supra motor? I can't really think about anything cool about that - it'd do HORRIBLE things to the nice balance an RX7 has. A 20B would be a much better upgrade.

yeah will be a bit front heavy but i want reliable hp
and the lighter 7 makes good power to weight

and yeah my mate has a very heavy foot but still twice the fuel
and fuel cost about 98c L back then and i payed about $1.18 or
more was quite a while ago.
