Given the option, would you make a contribution to this club to ensure it stays up and running all the time?

Nah, just curious.

BTW, for those who are a little slow (I know there's a lot of you out there) I'm not talking about a compulsory subsciption fee, just a donation, eg optional. I would like to see a "Donate to keep our servers alive" link on the forum somewhere. I would definately donate, personally.

There could even be a 'paying member only' section. Dunno wot you'd put in there tho

The more we pay... the more power?????????????

An "Official Club Member" sorta thing was done with some good organisation by NZhondas, whereby the members got a custom rank and a little pack with a sticker and membersip card etc.
Don't think it would work as well here, seeing as pretty much all the hardcore organisational work for the club is done by one member.

I reckon Wildcard would just buy an even bigger turbo if we donated too much money though...

With most of the heirarchy undefined, the group stays pure and social, to me,
that's all good.

I'll donate... give us a sticky "Buy Zylex lunch" thread and I'm there

:D

As much as Wildcard founded TS and is the 'senior admin' I hardly think its fair to say that all the work is on him.

- Zylex runs the server and 'back end' for the forums and website.
- I assist with Administering the Forums, run the Profiles and the Help site.
- The Moderators all assist in content moderation.
- Chelles, KinLoud etc assist with major event planning
- Region Coordinators run their area events and meets, etc etc

The reason we dont charge is that we essentially _cant_ because we're not an incorporated society or a registered company.

If we're going to charge for 'membership' we need to incorporate - do you wanna take responsibility for holding Monthly Meetings, AGMs, Elections, having accounts audited on a yearly basis, etc etc etc? The other side of the coin is that this makes life complex when we're here to share our love of Toyotas.

I've been involved in the incorporation of a new non profit organisation and served on the committee of more than one, so have some experience in these areas. I'm not convinced TS has the need, nor the discipline, to do it.

OTOH if someone proves otherwise, i'd be all for it.

PS: Me, I wouldnt pay anything, because I figure that the time I put into TS currently is sufficient contribution. :-)

I was mainly referring to Chelles.... I wasn't really meaning to miss others out though.

If everyone who cared donated $1 we could rival Brian Tamaki by next year
:D

Did ya miss that bit BJ? I certainly didn't mean to imply that things should be different.

I'm not talking about memberships. As I said, I'd like to see a link to a donations page, so I cant contribute my $10/month or whatever, purely voluntarily. As suggested above, perhaps if you donate, you get a custom rank, or something.

I dont want to be a 'member', coz all I care about is the forum.

i'd donate to help the servers, but although I'd donate more than once - it would be likely to be on a basis of when I could afford it

i'd prefer my money to goto something worthy. toyspeed has this 'welcome anyone' image but when it comes to meets, if youre not one of the regulars (or a hot girl), you're no one.
if its just for maintanance for the forums then yep fairymuff

I don't think most even care if she is hot or not...I think the fact it is a girl is enough...
