Is NZ too Politically Correct?

Postby HZRDIZ » Wed Apr 06, 2005 6:32 pm

After watching Eating Media Lunch last night for a full episode I must say I quite enjoyed it. Jeremy Wells tackles questions in a different perspective. But a section on EML was of great interest and that is with NZ and its PC.
And what was said is true - i think NZ is getting to the stage where nobody can say anything un-PC without getting discriminated against. Its going to become a form of religion where people who refuse to be PC will just annoy the rest of the sheep followers in NZ.
Its even at the point where people are moving across the ditch to get away from it all.
Not taking a stab at anyone here one example is the retitling of jobs IE: Cleaning Technician - someones who cleans ie a janitor. They will always be known as a janitor - if they get all PC about its simple - CHANGE JOBS if you dont like being called a janitor.

Anyway what is everybodys views on this?

The whole western world has. Give it about 5 - 10 years and it'll turn around - when people start realising how out of hand it is and get some common sense back. the public will only tolerate so much.

I haven't really noticed it... A lot of the people I work with and do work with are very non-PC.

Why, once, my boss pissed me off, so I told him to suck my cock. He told me to whip it out!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

People think that PC = Equality. I does to some extent but whats happening now is that its working in the reversed. You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Example: Your driving down the road minding your own buisness and an asian driver cuts you off. "Idiot asian driver!" you say. Some one in the back seat pipes up "You cant say that, its racist!".

:|

Hes is driving like an idiot and he is asian. The statement "Idiot asian driver" is fine. But because of what the media has told you, saying that is bad. Are you supposed to show an asian driver more respect than european drivers? No. Thats racist.

Onther thing, if a man makes a joke about women, he is considered a sexist pig. If a woman publishes a book full of jokes about men she is considered a comedian. Go figure.

You cant be racist if you are a minority. Its a known fact. Racism is a crime only perpetratable by white males between the ages of 15 and 70. Anyone else is exempt :)

What about in Zimbabwe where white farmers and whites in general are targets of extreme Racism? Or were you applying your theory only to that of New Zealand?
The fact that someone can call me "white trash" etc is almost plausible yet if I were to turn around and call someone "black scum" etc that would seem to be an almost criminal offence these days.

Too damn PC for it's own good, and the point about reverse-racism is too true as well

George Carlin has done some great stand-up about PC-ness, like how over the course of 3 wars, veterans suffered from "Shellshock"(WWI), "Combat Fatigue"(WWII) and now "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder"(Vietnam) although the symptoms remained the same. 8O

If anybody wants to hear that bit in it's full-length form, it can be found on most filesharing/p2p networks: George Carlin - "Euphemisms"
