GTX Mazdabator (BP) VS GTZ (AE92)

Postby Fandango » Mon Jul 25, 2005 10:14 am

What would you rather have?

I can kinda see where this is going to go being a toyota forum, BUT unbiased opinions please.

I'm thinking of selling the GTZ to get a GTX. (to the dark side!)

4WD would be nice, AND turbo sound/boost.

GTZ has turbo potential (for a price).. but will still lack traction.

I would rather have your gtz over a gtx, just cause it looks so tight.

But a gtx would be $&#$% fun. And like you said, boost.

Personally, I'd go for the BFMR shape Mazda, but if I'd still take the BP over any Levin/Trueno.

I have a fwd bpt in a laser wagon. It is EXTREMELY worked (forged pistons, reground crank, blueprinted block, GTR head and cams etc etc) and by crikey it is fun.
Very quick and possibly for sale....
The thing loses traction chopping from third to fourth etc etc
Only problem with gtx's is gear boxes 8O
Hence keeping mine fwd (with lsd to come) as they are easily rebuilt gear boxes. Only problem is front wheel drive just isn't the same as 4wd and rear wheel drive

The transfer cases are the problem rather than the gearbox aren't they?

But yes, the BF's rock, I had a BFMP (Sedan), but it was a front wheel drive version, hauled serious ass on 16 psi without all the 4WD drivetrain soaking up power, lasted a good year of serious thrashings running that many psi too.

Nice BFMR if you can find one. Not a fan of the BG shape...lots of 'boyracers' have em, and I had a plonker of a mate that went through 2 gearboxes in a year then sold it.

but then again I wouldnt say no to a BG shape GTR (what motors in these?)

id go gtz. thats only because of the potential of the 4agze tho , when coupled with a suitable turbo setup  they are very capable of making reliable high power figures. those bottom ends are damn near bulletproof if tuned correctly.

But you're still driving a front wheel drive, you may as well just step right on out of the closet...

hahaha yeah but if u were driving a a familia youd still be in a fwd..and dont get me started on the 4wd ones :? and with the right setup traction isnt quite as bad as people would have you believe. besides..we all know front wheel drives are often very light cars as well... :D

Knowing how many clutches and gear box bits I sold while at Repco, there is no way in hell I'd ever buy a GTX or anything Mazda 323 related!! 8O
