Eagers: Are they actually any good?

Lots of people seem to love their Eagers and pay huge prices for them but what are they actually like in terms of performance? I thought that they were shit tyres but the bogans love them because they're hard-wearing (will take lots of skids) and you can get them in good sizes. What do you reckon?

Theyre damn crap tyres, good for skids and thats about it. Two tenths of $&#$% all grip, most people like them because of the white writing on the side, and the desirable profiles.

They dont make em in 13" anymore though, but other companys make way better alternatives in similar profiles minus the white writing on the sidewall.

Rubbish tyres.

Tyre tech has come a long way since 1980.

They were pretty ordinary back in the nineties when my mates had them, I can't think of a reason that would have changed since then.

They're arse. Much like many products out there, people pay big $$ for the name/image they give.

Hahah, dirty old Modgies, lol.

I've driven plenty of eager-equipped cars, rotaries especially, and can honestly say that they're awful! As was said, in the wet especially.. even mild throttle round a lazy bend would have you spinning rapidly towards the weeds! Good for burnouts, because even low-powered cars can break traction easily, and they smoke brilliantly!

I'd never personally buy any though. I'd rather get some decent, performance tyres, buy a twink-pen, and write "Eagers" on them myself!

Eagers are very skatey, bought out the best (worst?) handling in my old 2ltr escort, wet roads felt like loose gravel!
They looked good, lasted well and came in good sizes, but thats about as good as it got!

eagers are possibly the only reason people thought rotarys had power
you could skid up at the drop of a hat and soke the bags at will
but then even a 1k starlet could with a set
