Toyota Soarer, UZZ31 air suspension or UZZ30 coil suspension

Postby UZZ30 » Mon Sep 12, 2005 2:25 am

hi all,

Im thinking about buying a V8 soarer towards the end of the year. However im not sure which ones best to go for, i know alot about them but need help on which one to get. Either the limited UZZ31 soarer with leather seats, air shock and lots of electrics or the basic 4.0GT UZZ30 soarer with Coil suspension, velour seats that has less electrics than the limited UZZ31.

I find the UZZ31 will be more fun, in the sense of pushing buttons, and enjoying the soft ride with the airsuspension. However its quite heavy at 1640kg. Problem with this is that the air suspension may leak eventually and the advanced electrics such as the electric steering column could pack up and cost 100's to repair!

On the other hand the UZZ30 would have less buttons to push and its 1590kg - 50kg lighter than the UZZ31. Plus the coil suspension would be a fair bit more sporty than the air shocks! Since theres less equipment, it will have less problems and be faster due to the lower weight and coil shocks. Only down side theres no leather seats, but hey i can always put new leather on them at a high price!

so people which one should i get?

UZZ31 Limited soarer with air shocks

or

UZZ30 4.0gt with coils shocks.

The air suspension normally f*cks out after a while in the Soarers. Then you have to start selling kidney's on the black market to afford for the repairs or replacements.

Go for something that has aftermarket replacements readily availible...

yeah, the air shocks tend to fail after 200,000kms or so. Plus there not that sporty and add weight to the car.... two more bad points!

with the coils id have no problems

So at this point the UZZ30 coil soarer sounds the best.....

Id go with the 30 not the 31.

Easier to modify, repair and not to mention find.

Plus like everyone else, sportier and lighter.

theres a nice uzz30 thats a bargain 7 grand with 121,000kms, they seem realistic for its condition.

Yeah they sure do- i guess ill go for the UZZ30.

Its the fastest v8 soarer
and the most reliable v8 soarer

so what about gimmicky air suspension and electric steering columns in the uzz31!

The uzz30 still has, Power steering, mirrors, windows, power seats, Electronic Instrument cluster, power folding mirrors, intergrated aeriel, premium Nakamichi soundsystem with 12 CD stacker, Leather door trim, LCD dimmer on rearview mirror, climate control, cruise control, trip computer, selectable overdrive, power/normal transmission modes which out classes many cars today!! and thats the basic soarer-

yeah, i like that leather door and dash trim, much more exclusive than most jap cars with thats plastic vinal stuff!

sadly most uzz30 have no leather seats but thats not an issue as you find the leather get hot, cold and can be very slippery sometimes! velour seats do just fine

well i will be going for a UZZ30 around Decemeber - january.

The more i think about it, i realise its the best model to go for - a uzz31 requires more maintance due to the air suspension and usually they are hard to find low kms examples at a decent price. Plus the uzz30 will out last the uzz31 easily regarding the suspension!

there are many uzz30s around at decent prices with reasonable kms - hopefully there will be good examples when im looking to buy one. My price range is 5500-7500.
