Do you hate or do you love?

I have a 97 Trueno..

Yes, it's a FWD..
Yes, I love it.

Is this really so bad?

Fair enuff for all you old skool trueno folks to be passionate about your RWD, but must you really be so mean to FWD's?

So we don't go sideways, so what? At the end of the day, we all love Toyotas and cars in general. *brings out the violins* Isn't that what's important?

Enuff of the hating!

So who's with me.. FWD's.. Hate em or love em?

At least be nice to us :)

I've had 14 years racing an Escort (on gravel), I absolutely love the way I can just chuck it sideways at a corner. May not be fast but gives plenty of smiles. RWD wins hands down on smiles-for-miles.

I've also had two events now in my FXGT. First event was fun but I didn't have the fun I had in the Escort. Second event and I'm getting the hang of left-foot braking so I can hang the tail out if need be. Way faster than the Escort if I keep it straight though. So FWD is way faster through the corners than RWD (with the option to stick it sideways if the mood takes me) but ultimately not as much fun.

Therefore my answer has to be "both". I'm just lucky I've got one of both in the garage so that I can choose which one I want, whenever I want, depending on my mood.

I don't love FWD, but I don't hate either.

Meh - a car is a whole package, not just a drivetrain. There are awesome examples of both. Shockers also

So soooo true. Awesome points.

Cahuna - Yes you are VERY lucky! Nice one :)

im pretty 50/50 about it
i see the idea but i dont like how it loses traction so easily, especially in the wet.

with the FWD cars available I wouldnt get one. The cars I would like to buy are mostly RWD.

As HELBND said, it is the package.

I dont hate FWD. But I cant say I love em.

I prefer 4WD....I own two. FWDs dont go that far when the going gets rough....although a RWD DX can go some surpisring places.
Nor do I hate FWDs tho, I have a love for AE82 GT's and they're FWD.
So yeah...50/50

I own both rwd & fwd, and both are just as enjoyable to drive as each other...

Respect both for what they are.

Good call Distrb. If you drive to their respective capabilities you do fine.

The one RWD I spent any time driving was a 76 Triumph 2500. Spinning it off the Mt Wellington Highway Roundabout in the wet was, um, 'entertaining' (aka thank god there was noone to hit, and no cop watching).

But yeah, last two cars have been 4WD, and gotta say its far more useful in the varying terrain I wind up handling. (Wet grass, gravel, mud, kerbs, and streets..)

BOTH!

set em up right, and fwd is no disadvantage.... in fact you can scare the f**k outta some so called superior cars

however, theres nothign quite like the feeling of an aw11 in the wet 8O
