Marriage kids and a mortgage... yay or nay?

So...
Is there anyone out there who actually WANTS the whole 'MKM' deal?
It seems like more and more people are becoming more independant these days, and arent having the 'MKM' till much later in life.
What are your thoughts?
Personally, the thought of even ONE of the above things is enough to send me running for the hills...
First of all, Marriage seems like such a trivial formality to me. I dont see why people obsess over it so much.
Second of all, kids. It comes down to... What would you rather have? A race car, or a kid?
Because the kid will probably cost you more, and a car doesnt hate you when it turns 15.
Anyway, the point of this poll/ramble is......
Is there actually anyone out there, that wants the whole white picket fence thing?
Or is that just a generalisation about middle class joe averages.
As you can tell, I'm not interested in the above at all.....
But I'm sure that some of you have different points of view.
