Modifying your car? How are petrol prices effecting you

So there are always people out there modifying their cars, doing this and that to their engines to make them more powerful.
However, with the latest surge in gas prices, how is it effecting your thoughts on your modifications. Generally, the more power you make, the more gas you consume.
Of course, yes, doing engine modifications isn't exactly a cheap process. If you're planning on really doing an overhaul, you're looking at like a grand just for pistons alone, let alone other things, which could easily add up to 10 grand. Whats this in comparison to say, $1.78 (est) for 98?
It adds up in the end though.
So have the increases got you thinking twice about modding your car?

No...at the moment its not effecting me. I mean, hey I dont have kids, no morgage etc...spare money etc...
I think for the most part the "youth" will still do up the cars/engines etc as they have a disposable income. Where as the older ones with young kids etc will be the ones to stopdriving guzzling cars...
I mean I just went and got a 2.6L petrol car...
all about disposable income...
Just my 2c...

Doesn't affect me one little bit.
Will only cost me around 10/15$ extra a week at the moment with petrol price surge. Can't say that would really be a life threatning experience for me...

yuh, I'm running an ms65 as a daily. costs over a hundy to fill from empty. use that and more a week haha.
but yeah, just a couple less beers a week, prolly a good thing if anything.
am coping fine right now, even given my relatively high mileage per week for my group of friends...
couple of mates are feeling the burn hardcore. one lives 10min walk form work but insists on driving etc....... doing like 20km all up per week.
other just wastes their money on bullshit, cant afford to run their borrowed car, let alone save anything to fix their gas guzzler lol

Nope, not affecting me but thats because my car's off the road. Might use a few dollars extra a week in the Rona but who cares about that? I'd hate to think what a tank of 98's gonna cost me when I get the MR2 back this/next week. Luckily there's still 3/4 of a tank sitting in it.

Ive got a video of you and a certain bottle of absinthe that could suggest otherwise
but yea, gas prices are starting to annoy me, I put in my $20 a week, that used to be enough to get me to and from work for the week plus enough left over to have a bit of fun in the weekend, now im struggling to get to work on the 5th day

it makes me want to get my car back on the road quicker because the stupid big fat diesel im driving costs a fortune to run
$110 of diesel gets me as far as $90 would in my car and thats without road user charges...
