trying to figure out witch to put in my car
it will be my first powerful engin as am on my first car with a sad old 4k
will probabily rebuld whatever i get unless in mint condition
am looking at eyther:
fully rebult and worked 7k/5k (might convert to turbo later on)
pros:
extremely easy to put in as all the k series parts go together (no stuffing round with diff gbox drive sharft engin mounts radiator ect)
it will keep the old school theam and it kind of belongs
also verry simpil and esy to work on
cons:
wont be extreemly powerful/fast
hard and expencive to get parts for
4age maby 4agze or 4agte
pros:
been done heaps of times so lots of knolidge on how to do
parts are widly avalibail
powerfull
cons:
not diferent from anything (been done too many times/ not uneque)
a bunch of stuffing round to do car will be off road for while
3sgte maby 3sge
pros:
verry powerfull
not extreemly expencive
cons:
not been done verry often so not huge amount of experiance with converstion
alot of stuffing round for converstion
harder to find rwd parts?(gbox mostly)
thats most of what iv been thinking about and im prefering the 7k atm but frends keep almost yelling at me to make me get 4age

7K would be cool, but needs a bit of fab work to fit. They're alot taller than the other K's.
Really depends how much money you've got to do it, 3S is damn cool, but to do it properly you'll be paying well over $10k

what diff/gearbox etc do you have? i'm assuming standard k series??
personally i'd say a mild 4age turbo engine (150ish rwkw) will be plenty enough to put a smile on your face

not sure, top pic the engine is mounted back further and the radiator fits
the 2nd pic is from
http://forums.fastfours.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=100755 which is like the 'members project' section we have here so you might be able to get some tips or advice from that thread on how he did things (i only glazed over it but saw pics of custom mounts being fabricated, something about the sump, etc)

Yeah, but being original means re-inventing the wheel, which alot of times ends up taking alot more time, and/or costing alot more $$..

I would have thought the deciding factor would be money, no good taking on a project that is not possible financially. If planning to do it over a number of years then this may not be a problem though.
Figure out how much it will cost... triple that figure, then ask yourself if you are prepared to spend that amount.

To do it properly, and particularly if you dont have access to welders and what not, then its not out of the question.
I don't think KE30 suspension and brakes will cope with a stock standard 3SGTE, let alone one with a bit more power.

I reckon it'd be mint with a badass old 3T. It's just need getting all the running gear outta an old corona or something, they come with a T50 too.
Keep it old school.
I think i saw on aeu86.org, a guy made 300whp + on a 3t (thread would be long gone by now).

Voted for worked 5k/7k, with a cam grind + mods it should be a nice quick car, original style engine ftw. 2nd choice would be NA 4age. 2tg also cool in ke30
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Since its your 1st non-gutless engine why not keep it simple. look at turbo later if u get tired of na engine.

5K would be cool
7K needs crossmember mod (?) But would be cool aswell
4A would be fun
1G nuts and un balanced (Possibly)
3S cool
3T-C Mega
![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
.
3S wouldn't be "too" hard cause there are W series gearboxes with S series bell housings. And I think an NA 3S would go down quite well in a KE.
3T's are just cool for some reason, I like the old pushrod lugs.... Had one in my TT141 corona and thought it would be cool to cam, comp, carb and clean up the head.
Theres a TE27 from the Manawatu Car Club with a 2T-B pushrod engine that sounds AMAZING and is impressivley fast.
