Soarers, like them or loath them?

So after seeing another one today, I have decided that soarer's are one of the ugliest cars made by Toyota.

The rounded shape just makes me want to throw up everytime I see one.
This is my opinion and everyone has different tastes, what I would like to know is who does like them? Do you like them because of the look, or the performance? Or both?

Lets please not let this turn into a slinging match, just a query of sorts 8)

I like them.. Except.. The bonnet.

I hate bonnets that are straight cut at the front/dont go down with the headlights.

Like the round headlight Integras..

not sure, the ones that look like a bubble on wheels like this:

So do people mostly like them for the engine then or the look or a combination of both?

I don't think I could own one, but I've seen ones that I've been quite impressed with.

I reckon that doesn't look too bad and its not an extensively modified exterior but with stock rims etc they're pretty horrid.

My only issue is with the headlights, but you can get past that. Rest of it can look quite nice. Phreak will have a small collection of pretty ones I'd bet

They can look rather good with a bit of money spent on the exterior etc.

Stock form they look ugly as hell... and I own one!!

I've never really liked the Soarer... only reason why I bought mine is because at the time it was the cheapest car I could get on short notice with a JZ in it. 3 Years and 20K+ later she still looks stock on the outside!

Next year I'll focus a bit more on beautification, it's annoying driving a car that's fugly. :P

But how many keep them looking completely stock? Most cars are quite bland looking stock :P

not many cars actually look that good standard.

soarers remind me of ae101 in shape, a lot like the ceres. very bland and easily lost in a crowd, which is probly what they were designed to be like.

but then it doesnt take much to get them to look good, and they have 2 decent engines available as standard fitment.

if you look at similar GT offerings by other manufacturers there isnt really much that stands out, you have 300zx's, GTO's, R33 skylines

none of them are particularly handsome but thyey can all look alright with the right enhancements.

While I'll admit that the Soarer's looks can be a bit of an acquired taste, the fact they were built across 10 years with relatively minor cosmetic changes says something...

I like em, not so much for performance or looks which when stock, like most cars is lacking in both. I like them because they're a nice car to drive , I don't see 40 of them on the way to work like other cars and I know if the shit hits the fan, I've got a pretty good chance of walking away from it. And in fairness, comparing it to other 15 yr old cars, it doesn't come off so badly.

Seems like a bizarre thread, it'd be a pretty mundane existence if we all liked the same cars, I'll never get the attraction to the AE86, it's just looks like a boxy wedge :| but hey, if people want to spend a house deposit on building one then it's all gravy.

I find them much as a similar kind of thing to R33 Skylines for all those facts - they are really nice to drive, some like them and some don't but have a really solid drivetrain, easy to get parts for, quite affordable etc. Big bonus to me is the R33 is lighter AND more practical all at the same time while still having a good 2.5litre motor. I'd probably have more seriously considered the Soarer otherwise....

Nissan rate it at ~1370kg. Last time I weighed it with me in it, and some fuel/rubbish etc it was in the 1450-1480kg range if I remember rightly.
