I voted taupo as it's central to most poeple in the Nth Island.

Taupo ftw, closest location to the majority of members

I picked taupo, not for any geographical significance, but because IMO it has the best motorsport facility, and there are plenty of other activities that can be done there or nearby as well. I think if people really want to go then they'll make the trip, regardless of where it is, and there's always going to be a drive for anyone who's not local anyway.

There is a far greater chance of getting manfeild booked by the looks of things than there is for Taupo as far as a track is concerned and its still somewhat central to the north island

Can we PLEASE GET OFF THE TRACK IDEA. Track is one day (if the meet even includes one). There are two other days damnit! Choose a location and stop focusing on the F*ing Track thing.

Im sure alot of people would enjoy either a track or grasskhana or some event simlar to this as the baseis for some planning. the remianing days naturally would be taken up with things you can do in your home town im sure.. so there needs to be somthing to justify travel for every party or there abouts.

From my stand point trying to organise somthing will never ever please everyone, but it seems theres a higher chance of getting intrest from a car related main event than that of there been from offering going to the movies and a beach is there?

You are right, people do enjoy those events. But the emphasis is on bringing people together as a club. Not focusing on track days which is what the other thread is leaning towards. I've said more than my 2c for this subject so I'm now just going to sit back and watch the outcome. GL with the planning

in that case i will quote you as you have a very very good point.

the MAIN thing here is to bring the maximum number of members together as we possibly can.
its a social event.
yes car stuff will be a massive feature.... but theres heaps of track days for ppl to enter. theres bugger all chances to get a mass of members from different centres together.

a full on track day excludes a large portion of the casual members who we are targeting with a MM.

why not try and combine trackday with masses amount of people ie run the track but in clude things like show and shine and sound off and maybe if a burnout comp i sure if you got hold a a track you could use this as some sort of base to work from and they might even let you camp there (not sure on this but if you don't ask you don't get)

the point i am making is why can't we run a multi event to try a please all types fof people

this would make for a huge MM08

Thats a good idea..

That way if you dont want to run around a track you can do something else at the same time..

I think if there were large enough numbers this would work really well

how many ppl do you think it would need to make a simultanius multi event work?

my personal feeling is there wouldnt be enough participants to make it work.... yet.
that would be a good long term goal for MM i feel. say in one or two years. or maybe when we can base one out of hampton downs?
i just dont think we would get enough suitable cars this far away from auckland.

remember the majority of TS are ppl with not enough $$!

Surely they'd come from miles around with you as the drawcard Rev!!

Not having enough $$ is such a shithouse excuse, I earn a pittance and most of that pittance pays my mortgage... but I can still budget and save enough to do a little bit of travel.

Chch would be sweet, but the issue that concerns me there is the lack of dedicated members these days... you need that strong core group within a region to organise and get things rolling really, setting it up remotely from Auckland or wherever would be a pain in the ass.

Who gives a rats re: a trackday as well. We have deliberately steered away from a trackday for our next oldschool.co.nz National meet, hell, we're roughing it... going camping and focusing on have a great time with some great folk, and response has been fantastic, even at the early stages!

MM = good people, good times, with some car stuff thrown in, generally "social" based car activities like scavenger hunts, poker runs (so so bangin!) and cruises/bbq's. Basically all of the above culminate in unavoidable social situations :D

Bugger it, let's have it in Northland... I've spent the last 6 days in Matapouri and it ruled on so many levels.
